Director and photographer, Mollie Mills makes impactful yet tender work. Drawing on scalable timeless aestheticism but with a deep magnetism towards real storytelling; regardless if shooting megastars or non-conformists, Mollie’s compassionate approach entices deep truths out of her subjects as she invites them to share their stories on their own terms.
Mollie recently launched a two-channel installation film and book ‘PITKISSER’ exploring the Los Angeles subculture of ‘girl mosh’ – following two girls in search of redemption from violence, finding solace and body euphoria in the hot lick of the pit.
Aged 18, equipped solely with a handycam, Mollie won Nike’s Best Young Filmmaker. Soon after, she shot ‘Vogue, Detroit’, a documentary about queer subculture; was named ‘One to Watch’ by MTV, and made the Dazed 100.
Meanwhile, Mollie has directed for globally renowned brands from Nike to Spotify to On, including prime spots for the Super Bowl and Oscars. Mollie is also continuing to nourish the left field with experimental, captivating music videos that distil the punk ethos she carries throughout. Mollie talks about her films feeling “alive”, and this is an essential ingredient in all mediums of her work.
She is currently in development on her first feature. And based between Los Angeles and London.
